Review: 2018 Civic Hatchback

600 × 335?The Honda Civic has been at the top of its compact car segment for as long as we can remember and the 2018 Civic Hatchback is no exception. If you’re looking for a compact car, but like the look of a hatchback, the Honda Civic Hatchback is definitely the car for you.

Every Honda Civic comes standard with a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine. The outputs vary by trim, but the LX, EX, and EX-L put out 184 horsepower where the Sport and Sport Touring trim levels put out 180 horsepower. You’ll have your choice between a continuously variable transmission (CVT), which operates like an automatic, or a 6-speed manual transmission which will give you more control while you drive.

If you go with the CVT transmission, the LX, EX, and EX-L trim levels earn 31 mpg city, 40 highway, and 34 combined. And the manual transmission earns just slightly less, coming in at 29, 38, and 33.

Safety is the name of the game with Honda vehicles so it should come as no surprise to you that the Civic Hatchback comes standard with a slew of safety features. You’ll get a reversing camera with guidelines, LATCH child-seat anchoring system, a complete array of front and side impact airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, and traction control.

You can also opt for Honda Sensing which is a suite of safety features and technologies that make driving safer and easier. Some of our favorite features in this safety suite include automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, road-departure mitigation system, forward-collision warning, and a collision-mitigation braking system. This is standard on the Sport Touring Civic Hatchback and available across all other trim levels.

Technology & Convenience

Standard features include 16-inch alloy wheels, LED brake lights, projector-style halogen headlights, Bluetooth hands-free calling and streaming audio, a USB port for charging, a multi-angle reversing camera with guidelines, and a rear-window wiper with heating elements.

From there, there are only more impressive features to choose from for your Civic. If a top of the line stereo system is important to you, you might want to look at the EX. If leather is for you, then you should look at the EX-L.

No matter what you’re looking for you in a compact car, the Honda Civic Hatchback delivers. Come visit us at Friendly Honda to see for yourself why this hatchback stands out from the crowd!
