2016 Honda HR-V For Sale in Poughkeepsie
It's official: Small is in. And so, Honda has built the 2016 Honda HR-V. A smaller version of the CR-V, the HR-V slots just above the subcompact Honda Fit and below the Honda CR-V. You can find this new and exciting vehicle at our dealership in Poughkeepsie and near Kingston, Brewster, and Newburgh.
What Is the Honda HR-V?
Instead of using a shrunken Honda CR-V chassis, the Honda HR-V will be built on an enlarged version of the Honda Fit (which was redesigned for 2015 and made slightly shorter, wider and roomier, particularly for those in the rear seats). At 10 inches shorter in overall length, 1.5 inches shorter in height and 2 inches narrower than the CR-V, the HR-V offers an alternative for those who need space for passengers and gear without the family-sized footprint.
The new crossover also incorporates the Fit's interior flexibility, with rear seatbacks that fold flat and seat cushions that can fold up from the floor. The passenger seat can also lay nearly flat, creating a cargo channel from the tailgate to the dash. Folding the Honda HR-V's rear seats yields an impressive 59 cubic feet of cargo space -- not much less than more midsize crossovers like the Chevrolet Equinox. Fold the rear seats up and there's still a useful 24 cubic feet for luggage and groceries.
What Makes It Go?
The 2016 Honda HR-V might share the Fit's chassis, but underhood it borrows the Civic's 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine. It's rated at 138 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque. The four-cylinder will pair with either a continuously variable transmission (CVT) or a six-speed manual.
Shifting gears yourself might quicken the HR-V a tick, but you can only get the manual with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is an option and works by operating in front-wheel-drive mode until the car senses slippage and sends power to the rear wheels to maintain traction.
What Body Styles and Trim Levels Are There?
The 2016 Honda HR-V will be offered in LX, EX and EX-L trims. Standard equipment includes alloy wheels, full power accessories, a rearview camera, Bluetooth phone connectivity and Pandora Internet radio.
Features on upper trims include keyless entry and ignition, a sunroof, heated front seats, leather upholstery, satellite and HD radio, a fully integrated navigation system and a 7-inch touchscreen display.
What Kind of Safety Features Does It Offer?
The 2016 Honda HR-V will offer antilock brakes, stability and traction control, front-side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, hill-start assist and a multi-angle rearview camera. EX models come with Honda's LaneWatch blind-spot warning system, which displays an image from a camera in the passenger-side mirror on the center console display.
